Plumbing emergencies are scary.

It’s 3 in the morning and you’re resting peacefully in your bed, when suddenly you hear a noise in the basement. Nervous that it’s an intruder, you grab a baseball bat and head down the stairs. The only intruder, it turns out, is the water flooding your basement. This might only be a tiny relief as now you realize you’ve got to do something about this.

Don’t worry – call a local emergency plumber. Call Lansdale Plumbing & Drainage. Day or night, we can help.

Types Of Plumbing Emergencies

Below is a list of some of the more common 24 hour emergency plumbing calls we get.

Cracked Or Frozen Pipe Plumbing Repair

Here in Lansdale, we have something called winter. And during winter, things freeze – surprise surprise. But what you might not consider is that sometimes your main water line can freeze. That might not seem like a big deal – just thaw it and things will flow again. But water expands when it freezes, which can lead to your needing cracked or burst pipeline repairs.

If you notice a pipe that’s swelling, it may be because it’s frozen and ready to burst. Warm it up with a heat source – not too hot, and not too direct – to try thawing it a bit. But this is only a temporary solution. A swelled pipe is a weakened pipe, and it’s only a matter of time before it cracks.

Of course, other things can cause a cracked pipe as well, but it’s most commonly freezing. Whatever it is that’s causing your cracked pipe, Lansdale Plumbing & Drainage provides cracked or leaking pipes repair and leak detection services.

Overflowing Toilet Repairs

Other than a natural disaster, overflowing toilets are one of the least pleasant things most homeowners will experience. And when they happen in the middle of the night, it can be even more jarring.

In most cases, turning off the water valve on the back of your toilet, or the main water shutoff valve, will solve the problem until tomorrow morning. But if it doesn’t, call us at Lansdale Plumbing & Drainage. 3pm or 3am, we’re there for you.

Broken Sump Pump Repairs & Flooded Basement Repairs

Your sump pump is there to keep your basement dry. It’s supposed to start up automatically if your basement starts to flood, to mitigate any water damage.

Unfortunately, your sump pump isn’t something you often think about, so you might not realize it isn’t working until you need it to work. And at that point, it’s too late.

If it’s not an emergency right now, call Lansdale Plumbing & Drainage and we’ll do a residential plumbing inspection to see if you need a sump pump repair or replacement. And if it is an emergency and your basement has flooded, call Lansdale Plumbing & Drainage and we’ll get everything up and running once more.

Regardless, if you need flooded basement repairs, call us right away – the longer you leave it, the more expensive it can get.

Storm Drain Overflow Repairs

A storm drain is designed to let rainwater drain away and keep the area around it from flooding. But if we’re facing a particularly heavy rain, your storm drain might overflow, which can cause water to seep into your basement.

If that’s the case, call us at Lansdale Plumbing & Drainage right away – we’ll stop the flood and dry things up for you.

How To Mitigate A 24 Hour Emergency Plumbing Situation

If you have need for 24 hour emergency plumbing, Lansdale Plumbing & Drainage is happy to help. But in order to save costs, it’s important to know how to recognize a real plumbing emergency.

If you have a plumbing fixture overflowing, you can often solve the problem at least temporarily by shutting off the water to it. These shut off valves are usually located under the sink if there is one, or behind the toilet, washing machine, or other plumbing fixture.

If that doesn’t work, try shutting off the main water shutoff valve. It’s usually in your basement, but sometimes it’s on an outside wall. This valve shuts off the water supply to your entire house. Maybe not ideal, but at least it will stop the problem for now.

Next, put a bucket under the leak to catch any remaining drips.

If you have some towels you’re willing to use, put them around the base of the leak to try to contain it, then give us a call so we can come get you out of your 24 hour emergency plumbing jam.
